TD-SCDMA Update
September 14, 2007
- According to Shanghai Securities News, citing an official from China's SASAC (State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission), the SASAC will not initiate telecom restructuring as previously planned and will not release 3G TD-SCDMA licenses prior to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

- According to Sina News, China Mobile plans to release TD-SCDMA mobile phone numbers on a large scale, projected to begin in April or May next year. Meanwhile, the company has defined five prerequisites for TD-SCDMA terminal devices: comparable performance in power consumption and stability as GSM phones; videophone functionality; enough bandwidth to support HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) operation; MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service) feature for mobile TV; and TD-SCDMA/GSM dual-mode dual-standby functionality.
